FREIGHTLINER COLUMBIA - EFFICIENCY IS QUITE ATTRACTIVE

The Columbia's legendary engineering delivers maximum reliability, durability and efficiency in the traditional truck for the 21st Century. The aerodynamic styling of the Columbia reduces wind resistance and provides excellent fuel economy, and with its lightweight design, you can haul more payload. Available in a 112” or 120” BBC with 7 Day Cab/SleeperCab configurations, the Columbia can be customized to meet the needs of your business. With great fuel economy, ease of maintenance and overall lower cost per mile, the Columbia makes efficiency quite attractive.

Building on decades of experience, Freightliner set out to take durability, reliability and ease of maintenance to a new level for the 21st century. Maybe that's why the Columbia was purchased by more fleets than any other Class 8 truck in the industry last year. More small and large fleets are turning to the Columbia for features like the aerodynamic design that not only offers a better-handling truck with greater visibility, but improved fuel economy as well. There's no doubt, the Columbia will stand up to miles and miles of use and keep delivering bottom line results.

Improved Cab
The lightweight, aluminum cab offers a number of features including an improved door seal for reduced noise, an optional passenger-side sleeper door for easier access and a hingeless baggage door that’s larger than the opening for full compartment access.

Power Distribution Module

The Power Distribution Module is located in the dash, directly in front of the passenger seat, for quick access to fuses.
Engine Accessibility
The hood tilts to a 90-degree angle, providing easy access to the engine compartment. See-through fluid reservoirs provide an easy check and the inner quarter fenders are engineered to help keep road splash, spray and contaminants away from the engine, without limiting engine access.

Getting There with Cleaner Air
Freightliner is committed to meeting and exceeding the EPA Smartway voluntary specification that boost fuel economy and cut emissions. Cut your fuel costs with aerodynamic features like high roof, tractor, and fuel tank fairings, plus a 2007 model-year engine. The EPA estimates these, along with a pledge to end idling and using low-resistance tires can slash fuel consumption by 10-20 percent.

  • Headlight bulbs are easily accessible and can be replaced in minutes without the use of tools. The bulbs are also standard size for ease of availability and cost efficiency.
  • The two-piece curved windshield allows for partial replacement, provides greater visibility and is sloped at an optimum 24-degree angle to reduce drag and fuel costs.
  • The aerodynamic molded bumper reduces drag while its three-piece design minimizes repair costs by allowing individual section replacement.

VOLVO VHD 430 - A HEAVY-DUTY TRUCK THAT CAN DO A FULL DAY'S WORK. AND GIVE YOU A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP.

The VHD 430 is designed to operate at the highest level of dependability, maneuverability and payload capacity. It's built for
nonstop performance in extreme weather, rugged terrain and crowded job sites. With all its power and efficiency, the VHD 430 can help your operation run easier, faster and more profitably every day.
But not all vocational assignments are day jobs. That's why the VHD 430 features an innovative sleeper berth, for applications where an occasional over-nighter means the difference between staying on schedule or falling behind.
The Volvo VHD is designed to protect you and your payload. It features a High-Strength Steel cab, three-point seat belts and driver-side air bag. Plus it comes standard with a host of heavy-duty safety systems for added peace of mind.
The best handling under the worst conditions. Plus the convenience and economy of a sleeper. The VHD 430 is setting new standards in the heavy-duty industry. Which makes it an easy choice for your next work truck.

ALL THE AGILITY YOU COULD ASK FOR.

No matter what you're pulling or where you're going, the VHD 430 makes it easy to get in and out of tight places. A 50-degree wheel cut and set-back axle combine to deliver a turning radius that's one
of the tightest in the industry. With Volvo's responsive steering, you'll have no trouble maneuvering through city traffic and construction sites. And the clean back of cab allows a closer body fit for better weight transfer to the front axle.

GET A GRIP ON DRIVER COMFORT.

The VHD 430's steering wheel is designed to give you the best possible grip, and an energy-absorbing steering column soaks up vibration from the road. The adjustable steering wheel tilts from 0 degrees to 32 degrees and telescopes a full 4.5" to allow precise positioning. The VHD 430's climate control system maintains a comfortable cab temperature at all times, and a sophisticated air filtration system keeps the entire cabin free of dust. Cab doors are double sealed to keep out water, wind and noise.

PLENTY OF SPACE FOR SITTING AND SLEEPING.

In the driver's position, there's over five feet of headroom plus generous space between seats. The sleeper area has 118 cubic feet of space, with a full-size bunk that lets you stretch out or sit up comfortably. And at the end of the day, a sleeper curtain plus a wraparound windshield curtain ensures privacy and a good night's rest.

VOLVO VN 780 - LOWER COSTS AND A HIGHER STANDARD OF LIVING. ALL IN ONE TALENTED TRUCK.

The aerodynamic VN 780 will change your impression of how a long-haul truck should look, ride and handle. The raised roof is tall enough for a person 6'10" to stand upright, and the massive 77" sleeper cab offers exceptional space efficiency. There's room for every amenity to make you feel at home. And with its fully insulated cab, the interior is as quiet as many passenger cars--even at high speeds.
But behind the 780's sleek curves and comfortable interior is a truck that means business. Not only will its nimble handling get you from loading dock to loading dock with ease, it'll do so with fewer fuel stops along the way. Which brings us to another impressive feature: saving money.

NOTE TO THE WIND: RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.
We'll admit that the sleek, aerodynamic shape of the VN 780 is easy on the eye. But the real beauty of the design is how it dramatically reduces wind resistance. Everything-from the sloping hood and windshield to the rolled-under bumper, recessed door handles and wedge-shaped headlights-has been sculpted and streamlined for the lowest possible drag coefficient. The welded cab ensures that there are no rivets to catch the wind and slow you down. And thanks to the shorter Volvo wheelbase, the gap between cab and trailer can be minimized for less air turbulence. As a result, the VN 780 requires less engine power to push through the air. Which means fewer stops at the pumps.

A CAB DEDICATED TO KEEPING YOU COMFORTABLE.

In the VN 780's driver's area, an advanced climate control system keeps you comfortable regardless of the weather outside. Twenty-two strategically placed air vents-plus cold draft panels and airflow valves-circulate fresh air through the cab. Double-sealed doors keep out water, wind and noise. And an independent air filtration system keeps the cab and sleeper area free of dust particles and other airborne aggravations.
Even the dash is designed to keep you operating at peak performance. Controls are within easy reach, and often-used switches can be located right on the steering wheel. The driver display is positioned to let you quickly read key diagnostic information from a single large screen.
You'll appreciate the quiet cab when you crank up the stereo, too. The VN 780 features an advanced audio system with speakers designed and positioned for optimum sound quality. You'll hear every note of
your favorite tunes, every word from your favorite talk radio stations.

WITH A SLEEPER THIS BIG, CABIN FEVER IS A THING OF THE PAST.

Bedroom. Office. Kitchen. Dining Room. Den. With the VN 780, you get the functional equivalent of all these rooms combined. The workstation doubles as your dining table and office desk. After supper, the bench seats quickly convert to a full-size lower bunk. The upper bunk folds out from the back of the cab, and a foldaway ladder allows easy access. The stacking cabinets can be custom-configured to suit your storage needs. And you can add a full complement of optional appliances, from microwave, refrigerator and TV/VCR to a built-in sink with running water.

PETERBILT'S MODEL 320 OFFERS ENCHANCED MANEUVERABILITY, VERSATILITY AND COMFORT

Peterbilt Motors Company introduces a range of new features for the popular Model 320, providing customers improved maneuverability, increased vehicle utility and enhanced driver comfort. Renowned for maneuvering large payloads in confined spaces as well as availability of alternative fueled hydraulic hybrid powertrains, the Model 320 is ideally suited for a variety of vocational markets including refuse, construction, tanker and fire service applications.

“Peterbilt’s low cab forward vehicle, the Model 320, is known for standing up to the harsh demands of the refuse and vocational industries with its uncompromising performance,” said Bill Jackson, Peterbilt general manager and PACCAR vice president. “And with its new features offering added flexibility, increased efficiency and an optimal work environment, the Model 320 is the ideal truck for this challenging market.”

New options for the Model 320 include:

STEERING GEARS

The Model 320 is available with the two new steering gear options for enhancing maneuverability. The Sheppard HD94 offers front axle ratings up to 12,000 pounds, and the Sheppard SD110 offers front axle ratings up to 20,000 pounds. Both steering gear options offer ten percent wheel cut improvement, decreased turning radius and enhanced serviceability. The Sheppard SD110 is available in several configurations for added flexibility: a single gear rated up to 14, 600 pounds, a single gear with assist rated up to 20,000 pounds, or as a dual gear for either a left or right hand rated up to 20,000 pounds.

LIGHT-WEIGHT BATTERY BOX

Utilizing the same frame space as a traditional battery box, the new light-weight aluminum, fender mounted battery box combines up to three batteries, a mount optional battery jumper posts and a disconnect all into one location. By configuring these components together, the Model 320 can be configured to save between 4 inches to 18 inches of linear frame space allowing for a shorter wheelbase which provides weight savings.  The battery box can also be installed on either side of the truck, simplifying body installation. This is beneficial to customers ordering the Hydraulic Launch Assist system, installing an automated side loader or installing a residential front loader body.

ERGONOMIC SEAT

For optimal comfort and ride performance, Peterbilt is now offering new amenities including an armrest, headrest and additional lumbar support to the already favorable Sears C-2 air suspension seats which already delivers 5.25 inch suspension travel and ergonomic contoured molded cushions. The new features are available on both the driver and passenger seats.

TRI-PLANE MIRRORS

To enhance visibility and safety, Peterbilt’s new tri-plane mirrors contain convex mirrors on the upper and lower planes with a remote controlled flat mirror on the middle plane. All three surfaces are heated, and feature an arm system that allows the mirror to be folded either forward or backward. And for added flexibility, the mirrors can be either traditionally mounted on the driver and passenger doors, or for a wider view range, the passenger side mirror can be innovatively installed to the front of the cab.
